"What I enjoy most is being in the field, working closely with clients at all levels on concrete, diverse projects that are always tied to real operational issues"

Vincent Manon – Senior Consultant – Arts et Métiers (2016)

Why did you choose to become a consultant at Avencore, and what do you enjoy most about the job?

With a 5-year background in the aeronautics industry, first as a technical support engineer, then as a manager of a 10-person team, I’ve always been truly passionate about the industrial world. By joining Avencore, I wanted to broaden my scope beyond aerospace and tackle new industrial challenges.
What I enjoy most is being in the field, working closely and directly with clients at all levels of their organization. Our projects are concrete, diverse, and always connected to real operational issues.

What was useful in your studies to work at Avencore?

I can confidently say that I rely daily, often several times a day on the technical foundation I built at Arts et Métiers, combined with my field experience in aeronautics. Concepts such as manufacturing processes, lean management, and production flow organization are extremely useful. They enable to bring relevant, concrete ideas during discussions with clients. This technical knowledge acts as a kind of soft skill: it helps consultants quickly adapt to the specifics of a new client’s environment.

What is the impact of Avencore’s work on clients from your perspective?

At Avencore, we deliver solutions that are not only effective, but also fully adopted by operational teams. We build them together, side by side with engineers, technicians, and operators. I believe the greatest impact lies in the implementation phase: the solutions are truly “owned” by the people who bring them to life.

What advice would you give to students starting a career in consulting, and what do you think makes a good consultant?

In junior consultants, I value curiosity, proactivity, and rigor. Our clients face complex challenges that require us to quickly understand their systems, tools, or organization. As consultants, we need to break down technical and organizational topics as efficiently and rapidly as possible at the start of each project. Rigor, in particular, is in my view a critical skill to ensure successful project execution.
