"Each assignment brings exposure to a new industrial environment."

Amélia Trimardeau – Senior Consultant – École des Mines de Nancy (2019)

What do you like most about your job as a consultant at Avencore?

What I value most about my role at Avencore is the diversity of people, industries, and challenges.

I enjoy working with different managers and consultants on each project, discovering new ways of thinking, and operating, and continuously learning from one another.

Each assignment also brings exposure to a new industrial environment. I constantly learn new technical vocabulary, processes, and operational models, and immerse myself in different industrial cultures, which is extremely stimulating.

What I particularly appreciate is the ability to combine deep technical understanding with a broader strategic perspective. We are not only analyzing data or processes — we connect operational realities with strategic ambitions.

Finally, client relationships are central to my motivation. Building trust between operational teams on the ground and strategic decision-makers is both challenging and rewarding. It requires adaptability and strong interpersonal skills . That human dimension makes every project unique.

What has been the most rewarding part of working on a project with Avencore?

One of the most rewarding aspects of our work is seeing its impact beyond the project itself.

When you read in the press about improved performance or enhanced cost competitiveness of a product line or an industrial site you have worked on, it gives real meaning to the effort invested alongside the client teams. It is not just about delivering slides or recommendations, it is about contributing to strategic positioning and long-term competitiveness.

Seeing those results materialize externally validates the collective work carried out with operational and leadership teams. It reinforces the sense that our projects truly matter.

What has been your personal highlight or favorite memory working with a client so far during your time at Avencore?

Some of the most meaningful experiences have come from site visits or industrial workshops at the client’s.

These moments, often intense, are where trust is built and real transformation happens. If I had to choose one highlight, it would be when I had the unique opportunity to enter the reactor building of a nuclear power plant during a maintenance outage. Visiting the fuel pool, the steam generators, and standing close to the reactor core was deeply impressive. Beyond the technical dimension, it was a powerful reminder of the responsibility and complexity behind industrial excellence in such a critical sector. Experiences like this are rare and unforgettable.

What do you think makes a good consultant?

Strong communication skills and adaptability are essential.

A good consultant must tailor their message to diverse audiences, from operational teams to executive committees, balancing clarity with technical depth depending on the context. Adaptability also matters internally — whether during senior project reviews or knowledge-sharing sessions — requiring constant adjustment of posture and perspective. Ultimately, a strong consultant combines analytical rigor with strategic vision, technical credibility with perspective, and expertise with humility.
