Which industrial sectors does Avencore operate in?

Specialized in the industrial sector since its creation in 2009, Avencore works across many industries. Is Avencore active internationally (Germany, USA, France)?

Yes. Avencore has an international presence, with offices in Germany (Düsseldorf, Heidelberg), the United States, and France (Paris). Our consultants work with international industrial clients in these regions and regularly take part in global assignments.

How do consultants from different global offices collaborate?

Avencore’s teams in France, Germany, and the United States work closely together on international client projects. We build tailor-made teams, drawing on each office’s specific expertise based on the client’s needs and project requirements.
Remote work is prioritized, with targeted travel when on-site presence is required. For the US office, the consultants are mainly based on client site during the week with Friday at home.
Teams usually meet every year in France to celebrate and share results and knowledge.

What profiles are you looking for at Avencore?

We are looking for graduates in engineering disciplines as well as experienced consultants with an industry or consulting background.
What matters to us are strong analytical thinking skills, a keen interest in technology, team spirit, and excellent communication skills in English.

What skills are expected to join Avencore?

We look for talents with strong analytical skills, able to quickly grasp complex, matrixed environments and understand highly technical products. Avencore consultants think strategically about projects and have excellent written and spoken communication skills in English. Leadership and the ability to foster positive dynamics within client and internal teams are key. Finally, ability to understand a complex problem, break it down to its component parts, and communicate in a concise and clear manner are key to succeed in the recruitment process.

Is industrial experience required to apply?

Industry experience is a big plus but not required for junior consultant roles. It becomes important for more senior positions.

Can I apply if I don’t have consulting experience?

Experience in consulting is a plus but not mandatory to apply for a junior consultant role. It becomes necessary for more senior roles.

Can I apply to multiple roles at the same time?

No, it’s not possible to apply for multiple roles at the same time. If you’re unsure about the right level, the initial HR discussion during the recruitment process will help determine the best fit.

What level of English is required to work at Avencore?

A high level of fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required. As our consultants may engage directly with C-suite executives, being clear, confident, and articulate in English is key to succeeding at Avencore.

What are the steps in the recruitment process?

The recruitment process includes four steps: an HR call, two remote interviews with managers, and a case study interview in person with a Partner.

How should I prepare for my interview at Avencore?

No specific preparation is required, but we strongly recommend keeping up with current events (especially economic news), review basic consulting cases (Ace your case or Case in point books), preparing relevant questions about Avencore, and clarifying your career goals ahead of time to succeed your interview.

How can I track the status of my application?

All candidates receive an HR response within 15 business days. HR interviews are scheduled regularly, and updates are provided at every stage of the recruitment process.

What is the typical career path for a consultant at Avencore?

Every consultant joining Avencore receives a full onboarding, including tool training, consulting methodology, team introductions, and internal processes. They are also supported by a mentor, as well as a manager on each project.
Consultants join as generalists. We believe in developing talent by giving exposure to a wide range of sectors, functions, and clients.

Every consultant who joins Avencore benefits from a full onboarding that includes tool training, consulting methodology, team introductions, and internal processes. At the same time, they are supported by a mentor.

What training and development opportunities does Avencore offer?

Because our teams are the core of our success, we are committed to offering our employees unique opportunities throughout their careers.

We support our employees at every stage of their journey within the firm. Each year, consultants and managers take part in 3 to 5 days of mandatory external training (in communication, leadership, management, etc.). In parallel, all employees also attend internal training sessions led by our in-house experts to further develop their consulting skills.

Are there opportunities for international mobility?

Yes, there are opportunities for international project assignments.

How are consultants assigned to projects?

Many factors determine project assignments: technical skills, prior experience in a given product or sector.

Day-to-Day Life & Projects

 

What does a typical day look like at Avencore?

There is no such thing as a “typical day” at Avencore. Joining our firm means entering a stimulating professional environment where each day brings something new – a subject to explore, a client to support, or a problem to solve. Learning and growth opportunities are constant.
At Avencore, there is no back office. Our consultants work with clients as soon as they start from strategic framing with executive management to operational implementation with the teams, helping them build the industry of tomorrow.
Working within Avencore means supporting high level of clients, traveling and visiting amazing industrial sites and sharing fun moments with the teams.

What types of projects does Avencore offer?

 Avencore offers three main categories of projects for industrial clients:

  • Growth Strategy
    • Defining strategic ambition, structuring operational and organizational models to reach goals
    • Supporting top management: industrial due diligence, growth planning, portfolio expansion
  • Performance Improvement
    • Optimizing industrial processes (OPEX), CAPEX investment programs, innovation and decarbonization strategies
    • Product and service competitiveness: procurement and supply chain performance, cost reduction, productivity gains
  • Transformation & Acceleration
    • Leading organizational change and team engagement
    • Concrete implementation of transformation plans: skills planning, organizational simplification

Projects typically last 3 to 12 months and are usually delivered on-site in agile teams of 3 to 10 consultants.

Examples our consultants are proud of: setting the product design and production strategy for radar and missile defense systems, selection of next generation of nuclear power plant technology, doubling a factory’s output, preventing the shutdown of a production line, reducing wind turbine production costs to reach competitiveness, accelerating drone development cycles, building a predictive model to estimate a manufacturer’s carbon footprint, or optimizing factory floor layouts to enable new machine deployment.

Is the work environment at Avencore flexible (on-site / remote)?

At Avencore, most consultants travel to client sites 2 to 4 days per week, typically mid-week. Mondays and/or Fridays are often spent working remotely from home.

Are Avencore consultants specialized by sector or generalists?

Consultants are generalists up to the Manager level. Our goal is to develop talent through varied tasks and projects across different sectors, functions, and clients. We are committed to helping every member of our team to grow and to offering opportunities to all our talents (multi-staffings). In addition, the ambition of our general path is to offer to our clients best practices across industries.

 

Offices & Locations

 

Where are Avencore’s offices located?

Our headquarters are located in Paris, France, on the Champs-Élysées.
In the U.S., our consultants work from their home cities, and gather at our shared New York City office for business meetings and team events.
Avencore also has offices in Germany in Heidelberg and Düsseldorf.

Do you offer projects in Germany or North America?

Yes, there are opportunities for international project assignments.

 

Personal Data

 

Who has access to my personal data during the recruitment process?

Only the HR team and your recruiters will have access to your personal data during the recruitment process.

How long is my personal data retained?

When submitting your application via our Careers site, the platform will ask for your consent to store your personal data. If granted, your data will be kept for 24 months. After that, you’ll receive an automatic message asking whether you wish to extend or delete your data.
