AVENCORE was selected by a train manufacturer looking into new ways of securing its position, in a market where the arrival of new Chinese competitors is changing the game. In particular, the company wanted to rethink its rolling stock development methods.
We designed a platforming solution that allows standardization of existing modules and building block. This accelerates development of new rolling stock elements and reduces production costs, while improving the level of quality offered to customers. Standardized modules become more mature and therefore keep industrial risk down.
The design standardization , however, does not limit the level of customization of the finished products, as adapting each building block makes it possible to respond to each customer’s unique requirements.
This new development method, along with the corresponding processes, tools and organization, was very well received by all relevant teams and ultimately rolled out in all of the company’s locations.
